R.I.P Cliff Robinson Former NBA All-Star dies at age 53

Basketball fans are paying tribute to the 18-year NBA veteran and Portland Trail Blazers legend, who passed away at the age of 53.

The family of Cliff Robinson, former NBA All-Star, UConn alum and Riverside High graduate says he has died. Cause of his death is unknown.

Former Portland Trail Blazers star Cliff Robinson has passed away at he age of 53. Claudine Ewing of WGRZ in Buffalo, NY broke the news this morning. Cause of his death is unknown.

Robinson was named the league’s Sixth Man of the Year in the 1992-93 season and was voted as an All-Star in the 1993-94 season.

Robinson played for the Trail Blazers from 1989, when he was drafted 36th overall out of the University of Connecticut, until August of 1997, when he signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns. 

Robinson spent four years at UConn before the Portland Trail Blazers selected him with the No. 36 overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft.

He went on to play 18 seasons in the NBA, eight with the Blazers, four with the Phoenix Suns, three with the New Jersey Nets, two with the Detroit Pistons and two with the Golden State Warriors.

Robinson suffered a stroke in 2017, then had a tumor removed from his jaw in 2018.
