PM to flag off 8 trains connecting Statue of Unity in Kevadiya with different parts of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would flag off six express trains including a Jan Shatabdi Express. Kevadiya to Varanasi Mahamana Express (Weekly), Dadar to Kevadiya Dadar-Kevadia Express (Daily), Kevadiya to H. Nizamuddin Nizamuddin – KevadiaSamparkKranti Express (Bi-Weekly), Kevadiya to Rewa Kevadia – Rewa Express (Weekly), Chennai to Kevadiya Chennai – Kevadia Express (Weekly), Jan Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Kevadia which will have Vistadome coaches, to enable tourists to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area along the journey.

Besides the PM would also launch a MEMU train service for Kevadiya from Pratap Nagar (Daily).

PM Modi said on Saturday that the Kevadiya railway station is India’s first with green building certification. “Now, more reason to visit the ‘Statue of Unity!’ This iconic statue, a tribute to the great Sardar Patel is connected via railways to different regions of India. 8 trains will be flagged off tomorrow, 17 January at 11 AM. Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Kevadia Timings Daily

One of the new trains is the Jan Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Kevadia which will have Vistadome coaches. Sharing some glimpses.

Situated near Kevadiya in Gujarat’s Narmada district, the ‘Statue of Unity’ is the world’s tallest statue, built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.

Statue of Unity, dedicated to the ‘Iron Man of India’, Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, popularly known as Sardar Patel. India’s founding fathers, and the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister. The ‘Statue of Unity’ constructed as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.

Kevadia, a village in the tribal Narmada district, is home to the Sardar Sarovar Dam reservoir on the Narmada river, and was a popular picnic spot even before the Statue of Unity came up.

Launching of the passenger service from various places is expected to attract more footfalls for Kevadiya which is likely to emerge as a major tourist attraction in the region with opening of the route connectivity through road, rail and waterways.
