A body found in a Lake Piru in the US state of California has been identified as the missing Glee star Naya Rivera, Authorities Say. GLEE star Naya Rivera was confirmed dead by the Ventura County Sheriff’s department on Monday, July 13, after the former Glee star was tragically went missing for last five days.
She was 33 years old. The late actress was declared a missing person after her 4-year-old son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, was found alone in a boat on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California.
The remains were found after a frantic search for the actress, 33, who jumped into the water at California’s Lake Piru and didn’t resurface, according to her little boy Josey, 4.
Naya Rivera body’s recovery falls on the seven-year anniversary of another Glee star’s tragic passing Cory Monteith, who died of an overdose on July 13, 2013.

“This is an area we’ve been searching really hard because we believe that’s where she was last seen in the water,” Captain Eric Buschow told reporters.
“I don’t know what the depth is where she was found but I’ll have to get more details. This is all just happening now.”
The Ventura County Sheriff has confirmed that they are “confident” the body recovered on Monday morning is that of Naya Rivera. The sheriff explained their reasoning in full at a press conference this afternoon.
“Based on the location where the body was found, physical characteristics of the body, clothing found on the body, and the physical condition of the body, as well as the absence of any other persons reported missing in the area, we are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera.”
“There was no indication of foul play and no indication that this was a suicide,” Sheriff Ayub added. “Our hearts are with [Naya’s family] and we share in their grief for Naya’s loss.
