Covid 19 Maharashtra Lockdown News: The State Health Department on Saturday (February 20) released information that 6,281 new COVID-19 cases and 40 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.The total cases in the state increased to 20,93,913 including 48,439 active cases and 19,92,530 total recoveries.
The death toll in the state mounted to 51,753 including the new deaths, the state department said.

Pune announced new Covid-19 restrictions on Sunday including a limited night curfew with effect from February 22, closing of schools and colleges among other things. Maharashtra has re-imposed strict restrictions in five of its districts — Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana and Washim — with a “partial lockdown” in two of them. Mumbai, on the other hand, will not undergo another lockdownand will instead focus on increasing testing and strict implementation of face masks, officials from BMC said on Saturday.
Five states — Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh — have been witnessing an upsurge in daily cases amid rising fears of the spread of new variants from South Africa and Brazil, whose first cases were reported on February 16.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s latest test results came as negative. Rupani had mild symptoms and was getting treated at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre (UNMICR).
