Valtteri Bottas won the Austrian Grand Prix for the second time in his career.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc moved up to second, with British driver Lando Norris taking the first podium of his career to finish third.
Norris became the youngest British driver to secure a podium finish and the third youngest ever in Formula One.
Hamilton wore a ‘Black Lives Matter’ T-shirt and took a knee before the race in a message against racism.
A five-second penalty meant Lewis Hamilton missed out on a podium place as the 2020 Formula 1 season got underway at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg.

The race was interrupted three times by a safety car and nine of 20 drivers abandoned, including both Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon – who tried to overtake Hamilton on the outside with 10 laps left, touched wheels and flew off track.
“There was definitely quite a bit of pressure on me there,” said Bottas, speaking through a face mask afterwards.
“One Safety Car was ok, but I was like ‘another one? And come on?’ Lewis was quick, but I was able to control it.”
Leclerc admitted the result was a surprise after Ferrari’s dismal form in practice and qualifying.
“I did not expect this – it’s a huge surprise, but a good one. We did everything perfectly to finish second.”
Norris said: “I’m speechless – there were a few points where I thought I had fudged it. I am so proud of the team for coming back from where we were a couple of years ago.”
