4 May Stock Market Closing Bell: US-China tension drags Nifty below 9,300 and Sensex plunges 2,002 points

Today 4th May 2020 Stock Market Update: On the first day of the week, the Sensex crashes 2,002 points (5.94 percent) to close at 31715 while the Nifty was down 566.40 points (5.74 percent) at 9,293.50 as global selloff and rising tension between US-China over coronavirus.

Except BSE Telecom and Pharma, all other sectoral indices ended in the red.

Out of 30 index stock only 2 stock Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma ended in the green, while the other 28 stocks end in the red.

About 567 shares have advanced, 1817 shares declined, and 179 shares are unchanged.

Nifty Bank was down 8.32%, Nifty IT was down 4.64%, Nifty Auto was down 7.21%

BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell between 3-4 percent

HDFC, ICICI Bank, Infy and RIL Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors were among major losers on the Nifty.

Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s and Sun Pharma are top gainers.
